He&#8217;s been in the business since 1971 four years before the start of the war in his country of origin Lebanon. When I woke this morning one of the first things that popped up while checking my Facebook page was the status of one of my hometown relatives. A very talented cook Dina Bayoud Kohl writer of &#8220;The Taste of Marjeyoun.&#8221; Talked about her pride &amp; honor for meeting Mr. Eid.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s\u00a0always\u00a0a pleasure &amp; moment of pride when a Lebanese shines outside and we have many.\u00a0With\u00a0Sameer, it&#8217;s extra special for me because he&#8217;s from my hometown and because the food business is a passion of mine.\u00a0Being a\u00a0restaurateur\u00a0has been one of my dreams for the last ten years.\u00a0What\u00a0makes\u00a0Mr. Eid an\u00a0interesting\u00a0personality in the food &amp; hospitality business is that after 47 years he&#8217;s still hands-on when managing his restaurant.\u00a0As per the short video filmed by Detroit Free Press,\u00a0it&#8217;s all about having the perfect products for his place and\u00a0it\u00a0can only happen if he personally attends to\u00a0it.\u00a0As per his statement to have a successful business, especially in the hospitality sector you need\u00a0to be\u00a0yourself attending to the details.\u00a0As quoted by Mr.\u00a0Sameer\u00a0Eid &#8220;I&#8217;ve been married for 41 years I have a mistress at home and a wife called Phoenicia.&#8221;\u00a0The latter statement might seem extreme and unfair to his wife but to succeed in a business and become synonymous with a city of the stature of Detroit it&#8217;s\u00a0not easy.\u00a0One of the market owners where\u00a0Sameer\u00a0Eid picks his goods stated that Eid is a special treasure to Detroit.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s been\u00a0really\u00a0amazing to know and write about the\u00a0certain\u00a0personality of the stature of\u00a0Sameer\u00a0Eid.\u00a0He&#8217;s not only a treasure to Detroit and Michigan, but to Lebanon and my hometown\u00a0Marjeyoun.\u00a0I\u00a0hope the next time\u00a0I\u00a0visit the United States\u00a0I\u00a0could be\u00a0able\u00a0to go to Detroit and try\u00a0Phoenicia\u00a0myself as it seems like an\u00a0amazing\u00a0restaurant.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 11 February 2018, I read an article by &#8220;The Detroit Free Press&#8221; recognizing Sameer Eid the owner of a Lebanese Restaurant called Phoenicia as one of the best restaurateurs in Michigan.
