Masterminds … wacky moments are indeed needed sometimes in cinema!

When my friends recently suggested watching Masterminds, the first thing I did—like always—was check the ratings on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes. Unsurprisingly, the reviews were less than favorable, with Rotten Tomatoes being particularly harsh.

To be honest, my expectations were quite low. I wasn’t expecting anything on the level of Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun series or Peter Sellers in The Pink Panther films—after all, those two were masters of physical comedy. But let’s not forget the fundamental purpose of comedy: to make us laugh, even if it’s through absurd and silly moments. And that’s exactly what Masterminds delivers.

Sure, this film may not appeal to fans of Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy, Jacques Tati, Sellers, or Nielsen. It certainly doesn’t boast the artistic depth of classic cinema. However, if a movie keeps making you laugh out loud, it deserves some credit. Sometimes, wacky, over-the-top humor is exactly what we need to escape, even for a little while, from the stresses of today and the worries of tomorrow.

So, if you’re looking for a fun, mindless comedy to help you unwind, Masterminds is worth a watch.
