A question that my friends always asked, why do old movies matter? Well for a start the well of originality is almost empty if not.

In recent years especially in Hollywood, they repeated themselves which caused me to take a stand against such repetitive art. Some people in this industry might sometimes argue that some remade movies are better than the original like in Ocean’s Eleven case. For me, I dare to disagree because I will always consider Mr. Ocean is Frank Sinatra not Georges Clooney and as far the supporting cast you had like of Samy Davis Jr. and Martin Dean which for me says loads.

Old movies have this aura of greatness when you see Bogart, Grant,Sellers, Kelly,Gable,Brando,Audrey and Katherine Hepburn, Taylor and lot more you see passion and dedication to this art. In our days some might argue that there is still passion in the eyes of actors and actresses of the now, but I say all you can see is a passion for the paycheck of 20 million plus at the end of the production. Well, who can blame them these days with the economic woes but at least from time to time give us the courtesy of doing something of artistic value rather than reminding us it’s an industry.

Don’t get me wrong it’s an industry and huge one but in the old movies even with this materialistic aspect you still feel pure passion with their performances in the movies of old they swear to get the right cut. Bring forth movies of old Dr. Zhivago , Ben Hur of Heston , Lawrence of Arabia, Stars wars of the 70s , Godfather, Citizen Kane , Hitchcock movies these what matter.
