From Beirut to Africa: A journey of passion and resilience
Growing up in Beirut during the 1980s was a tumultuous time, marked by the Israeli invasion and the civil war that shook the city. But despite the chaos and danger, I had a happy childhood with a loving family that instilled in me a strong sense of resilience and determination. I witnessed firsthand the courage and perseverance of the people of Lebanon, who refused to be defeated by the forces of war and destruction.
However, my school years were a different story. I was often bullied by my classmates, who teased me for my small size and my unusual name, Razouk. It was a painful experience that left me feeling insecure and alone. But I refused to let their cruelty get the better of me. Instead, I poured my energy into my studies and found solace in books and learning.
As I progressed through secondary school, I began to find my footing. I discovered a passion for knowledge and an insatiable curiosity about the world around me. I devoured books on science, history, and philosophy, and I dreamed of one day making a difference in the world.
This dream became a reality when I enrolled in university. Here, I found a community of like-minded individuals who shared my passion for learning and my commitment to making a positive impact. I immersed myself in my studies, soaking up every bit of knowledge that I could. I discovered that I had an exceptional intellect and a talent for critical thinking, which I used to excel in my coursework.
After graduation, I embarked on a new adventure, working in publishing for several years. But despite my success, I began to feel restless. I longed for a change of scenery, a new challenge to conquer. And so, I set my sights on Africa.
The continent was a land of mystery and wonder, with its vast savannas, dense jungles, and diverse cultures. I was filled with excitement and anticipation as I stepped off the plane and set foot on African soil for the first time. Over the next thirteen years, I lived and worked in the jungles of Africa, experiencing both the joys and the challenges of life in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
During my time in Africa, I witnessed firsthand the beauty and resilience of its people, who welcomed me with open arms and taught me valuable lessons about life and humanity. I learned to speak several local languages and became immersed in the rich culture of the continent. I worked hard to make a positive difference in the lives of those around me, using my skills and knowledge to help improve healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability.
But eventually, my wanderlust led me to the Gulf, where I hoped to find new opportunities and challenges. While the region was not without its challenges, I found that it offered many exciting possibilities for growth and exploration. I continued to learn and grow, adapting to new environments and pushing myself to new heights.
Looking back on my journey, I am filled with pride and excitement. From the war-torn streets of Beirut to the jungles of Africa to the vibrant cities of the Gulf, I have traveled a long and winding road. But through it all, I have remained true to my passion for learning and my commitment to making a positive impact on the world. And I am excited to see where this journey will take me next.
