Qortoba : From Aleppo to Lebanon with Love

Thanks to Zomato & Qortoba’s invitation, you have the opportunity to try a place you would instantly fall in love with it. The site for starts is located in a great area and got a breathtaking view. Whatever you choose from their specialty dishes, the food well for me you wouldn’t be disappointed. So for the first time obviously I had to select a collection of unique and special dishes with the usual suspects like Hummus. Here’s a bit of detailed information on the dishes chosen.

We chose a collection of specialty dishes that I’ve been looking forward to trying, the first dish we tasted was the Bell Pepper Salad with walnuts, pomegranate molasses (دبس الرمان ) & olive oil the taste is that sweet & sour with the right balance, it’s without a doubt my favorite dish at Qortoba till I try something else at my next definite visit, I would rate at 5 out of 5. The other salad was the wild thyme which was an average dish I wouldn’t choose next time I visit and my rating is 3.5 out of 5. The Hummus we ordered was the original type without any additions and was good I would give it 4 out of 5.

Second dish Besterma (Aleppo-style dried beef) simple yet perfect & tasty I would give it a solid 4 out of 5.
The third dish, Kebbe Sajie the traditional Kebbe we know in Lebanon definitely a good dish but considerably normal compared to their specials.
The fourth dish Sujuk with cheese was an amazing presentation and taste, a combination of the sujuk and the halloumi cheese was brilliant and out of this world and I would give the dish a perfect five.
The fifth dish is Toshka, Grilled pita bread slices stuffed with lamb meat & Halloumi cheese as well just the right balance between meat & cheese and quite unique & tasty and my second favorite dish in this food exploration, my rating is 4.5 out of 5.

In a nutshell, their service was impeccable, the staff was so friendly and even we had a visit from the owner of the place who was overwhelmingly courteous & welcoming. And top of all this the care they take in the tidiness and cleanliness of the place almost to the same level of quality of their food if not more makes the difference between a top-notch place and a good place. The setting with the inclusion of the piano and the cozy room behind gives you a feeling of authenticity & originality. For me, it’s a definite destination for lovers of food & worth the trip.

  10. OK — been on this thing for something like four months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me the other day. Am UK based, mainly bet football and racing, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.

What got me on it was genuinely pretty stupid — I could never figure out what an ew payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d wing it and get a shock. Now stick my stake in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.

Their single bet calculator tool is the part I use most — you drop in your stake, the odds and it shows the return straight away, fractions or decimals. There’s also the bigger stuff — trebles maths, a lucky 15, yankees, which is where I always lose track. If you want a look, it’s here kelly bet calculator — free, no signup.

What actually changed how I bet is the nerdier bits. The probability converter that shows the overround, plus a kelly staking tool — I run quarter kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutch tool is handy too for when I’m covering two or three runners.

Couple of gripes. The interface feels very functional, let’s say — not much flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. Phone-wise it’s fine but the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. There’s nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — slight shame but worth saying.

So yeah. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does the job. If anyone still adds it up in their head, have a look — saved me a fair few arguments with the bookie.

  11. OK — have been messing about with this thing for about five months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. I’m UK based, mostly do football and horses, small stakes, so take it how you like.

The reason I started using it was actually a bit daft — I could never figure out what an ew payout would be when the place terms changed. Basically I’d guess and get a shock. These days I stick my stake in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.

The single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — you drop in stake and odds and it spits out profit and total return instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — trebles returns, a lucky 15, yankees, which is where I’d always lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at matched betting calc and it’s free with no account nonsense.

The thing that actually shifted things for me were the geekier tools. They’ve got an probability calculator and it makes obvious the overround, plus a kelly staking tool — I use half kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutch tool is handy too if I’m splitting a race.

Couple of gripes. The layout feels a bit basic — not much flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s usable although the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. There’s no proper app, it’s browser only — slight shame just flagging it.

Right, that’s me. Free, no ads shoved in your face, does what it says. If anyone even now works out returns on a calculator app, try it — saves me a fair few arguments with the bookie.

  12. So — have been messing about with this thing for about six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d say something since a mate asked me last week. I’m in the UK, generally bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.

How I found it was actually a bit daft — I couldn’t ever work out what an e/w payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just guess and then be surprised. These days I stick my stake in first, every time, even a simple single bet.

Their single bet calculator tool is the one I’m on daily — you put in your stake, the odds and you get returns straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. There’s also the fiddly ones — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, yankees, and that’s where most people I know got it wrong. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at betting converter and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

One thing that really shifted things for me is the more serious tools. There’s an probability thing that shows how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly staking tool — I run quarter kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit if I’m spreading across selections.

Couple of gripes. The layout is very functional, let’s say — not much flash, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it’s usable although the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — slight shame just flagging it.

Anyway. Doesn’t cost anything, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. If you still does the maths on paper, try it — saved me a load of arguments with the bookie.
